Personal aspirations and goals

Personal aspirations and goals

Identifying your aspirations and developing specific goals which reflect your personal priorities is a powerful exercise of clarifying you intentions about what is most important to you and what you plan to do to make your goals reality.

Beginning with the whole
Each of us has many dimensions of our lives - arenas in which we have needs, desires and where we invest and spend ourselves through our commitments of time, energy, creativity, money and commitment. The diagram below offers one image of the variety of arenas that you might have in your own life, and offers a framework for surveying the terrain of your life in the pages that follow.
As a way of beginning this exploration, take some time to reflect briefly on each of these arenas in your own life and in the space around the outside of this image, note any wishes you may have related to any of these arenas. (Note that for some arenas you may have several wishes, while for others you may not identify any at this point in time.)

Your goals sorting and prioritizing
Now it’s time to pull it all together. On this page, we invite you to do two important things. Looking at all of the goals you’ve identified in the various arenas of your life, it’s time to pull them together and think about where you want your priority focus to be at this point. Begin by pulling together all of your goals onto this one page, sorting them into long term, medium term and short term goals.
Do this by recording your goals in the appropriate space below.

Your goals actualizing
To move your goals beyond wishful thinking to reality requires both planning and commitment.
Begin that process in the space below with some preliminary thinking around what it will take to realize each of your three priority goals.

Goal one.
How will I know I’ve achieved this goal? What will be different?
What could get in the way of achieving this? (Include ways that you might get in your won way.)
Key Actions Required
Resources I’ll Need
Whose help do I need?

Seeing specific commitments in context
As a way of bringing this work full circle, this last page invites you to locate the specific goals and commits you have outlined on the previous page within the context of your overall life. Which of the arenas below will be the focus of your attention during the upcoming weeks and months? You may want to write your goals in the space outside of the corresponding arena below as a reminder that while you will be devoting particular attention to these areas, these commitments will be unfolding within the context of your overall life and will almost certainly be shaped by these other arenas and will in turn also influence what happens in your larger life.

Exploring workplace and career connections
Use the space below to explore the possible connections between three priority goals you identified and your paid work.

In order to pursue this goal, what adjustments or changes might you need to explore in your present job?
Are there ways in which your pursuit of this goal might be integrated into your paid work?

YJ Draiman for Mayor of LA 7 points Statement

YJ Draiman for Mayor of LA 7 points Statement
YJ Draiman for Mayor of LA Statement
In my humble opinion the biggest problem I see is the Pensions.
It takes a major portion of the City Budget and keeps on growing. This is a problem many Cities and States are facing. A solution has to be found.
The second problem is the Unions.
They are no longer an asset to the public, but a hindrance in solving the budget crisis and very inefficient in work performance and very costly.
The Third item is the need to cut the City staff, reduce spending, eliminate redundancy, consolidate departments, increase efficiency and reward performance.
The Fourth item needing to be addressed is Mayor should appoint one neighborhood council member to each of the city's boards of commissioners including the proprietary departments as well, either through a charter amendment, ordinance or by policy directive.
The Fifth item is to make the city more business friendly to attract businesses, not chase them away and reduce revenues. This takes a multitude of actions. Appoint LADWP ratepayer advocate.
The Sixth item is to improve education and reduce the top heavy LAUSD administration. We need to make our schools an education icon, not a warehousing of students.
The seventh item is to improve public transportation.
People today are concerned about a roof over their head and a Job – this is top priority.
People have lost faith in government and its representatives.

I think this is good for starters. (There are many more items)

Thank you.

My platform is: Fiscal responsibility, family values and morality.

PS. The key is for everyone to work together without any hidden agenda. The only concern should be the current City budget crises and the residents of the community. Everything must be above board and transparent.

About YJ Draiman

A, YJ Draiman is an Independent candidate pursuing Mayoral position in Los Angeles, California.

I was born December, 1949; I am a descendant of a Jewish European family. I was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. I studied mechanical engineering in the printing industry and attended Electronic engineering school in New York City 1970-1973 after graduation from High School in 1967. I am currently working on my PHD in Energy Conservation.

I am an Energy/Utility analyst. I am a successful utility auditor/ consultant businessman. I am an advocate for reducing waste in government and I am committed to listen to my constituents so we can define, legislate and execute attainable solution.
I moved to Chicago in December 1974. After working in a management capacity for a few years, I opened a Real Estate management company and at age 27 also opened a chain of electronic stores for retail and wholesale business. While renovating buildings in the late 70’s I discovered the art of energy efficiency, methods of conserving water and reducing costs of telecommunication. In the 80’s I entered the deregulated utilities business, marketing Natural Gas, Electricity & Telecommunication, and performed utility bill audits. All in all, I have in excess of 25 years experience in the renewable energy industry.

I have been actively involved in various efforts to reduce our dependence on foreign sources of energy and am a strong proponent of renewable energy sources. I believe that our energy independence and reduction in the use of Fossil Fuels is crucial to our growth.

I am an animal and outdoor lover. I enjoy boating, diving, hiking and flying. I am an environmentalist and believe in the preservation of nature, parks and playgrounds for future generations.
A dedicated family man, I married Miriam in 1971. We have two adult children: son David, 38 and son Benjamin, 34.

I decided it is time a qualified citizen should run for office, one who has no political allegiance to anyone, one whose only allegiance is to the voters, one whose concern is for the well being of the community and not the special interests groups. I started my candidacy during a meeting at the NC when they suggested I become a candidate.

I have important reasons for caring what happens in Los Angeles – my family and friends.
Our economic strain and the lack of jobs have prompted me to try and do something. Government spending is running rampant, efficiency is non-existent, waste is the rule of the day and bureaucracy is hampering business. We must address these concerns today to protect the future of our children and grandchildren.

Government fiscal discipline is a must. We must make Los Angeles business friendly and look for ways to address the housing crises.

Improving our education system and public transportation will improve the quality of life in Los Angeles

I want future generations to enjoy the freedom our country was based on. Keep our jobs at home and increase productivity and job security.
Don’t tell me what someone did in the past; tell me what we can do for our citizens presently and from now on.
I need your help!

YJ Draiman
Candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles (2013)

I’m not a politician. You won’t get politically correct doublespeak from me, just the plain facts. The plain facts are often disturbing and as a NC Board Member I’ve never been shy from revealing the sometimes ugly truth about the way the City functions.

Career politicians like the current have no interest in serving the public; rather, they use public office to serve their own interests and those of the small but wealthy cadre of greedy “special interests” who fund their campaigns in return for favors when decisions over controversial matters such as billboards and development have to be made by elected officials.

All too often, the City Council’s actions support the special interests at the expense of the interests of the ordinary people like you and me.

When common sense dictates that our already over-congested streets should not be further burdened by more high-density luxury condominium developments, current elected official’s side with the developers and contractors who funnel campaign contributions to further their interests. We need a Los Angeles with Financial Sustainability that is my goal.

My pledge is for a “City of Los Angeles for the people” not for the politicians and special interests.

Draiman YJ for Mayor

YJ Draiman for Mayor of Los Angeles 2013

Dear Fellow Los Angelinos

Thank you for taking a few moments to learn more about my ideas for building a new Los Angeles.
I appreciate your interest in my campaign and hope my jobs plan will provide you with a better understanding of the type of Mayor I hope to be – one focused on transparency and putting Los Angelinos back to work.

Los Angeles faces one of the most challenging times in our city’s history.
Because of the unfriendly business environment, along with some of the highest tax rates in the nation, families and businesses are being forced to make unthinkable trade-offs, including living the city they love. But I am optimistic about Los Angeles future.

I am running for Mayor because I believe everything is still possible in Los Angeles. That is why as Mayor that makes LA attractive to business will create jobs will be my priority. It is the only way we are going to clean up the mess in Los Angeles. I have a unique skill set and the detailed plan to get Los Angeles going again.

I have started businesses from the ground up and within a short time revenues exceeded $60 million a year. I have been involved in gentrification of whole neighborhoods; I have built a 5 star hotel and implemented energy efficiency for over 20 years. I operated a chain of electronics stores.

I think Los Angeles needs a little bit more of a business-like attitude. We have to be honest about our problems, offer grown-up solutions and put an end to the partisan bickering and hand-wringing that is business as usual.

I can effectively balance the interests of developers, big business and those who are well-situated and I am more concerned about the interests of everyday citizens."

If you do not know and admit that there is a problem, you can not fix it.

I am running to reinvigorate Los Angeles economic potential – it will take time and the effort of all the people of Los Angeles. We shall overcome there economic hardships if we work together as a unified force.

If you have any suggestions on how we can move Los Angeles forward, please contact our campaign. We will listen. We want this campaign to be special, one that addresses your concerns and speaks to your hopes for what a new Los Angeles can be.

Together, we can put Los Angeles back to work and make our City great again and call it the city that works.

YJ Draiman for Mayor of Los Angeles 2013

Draiman is determined to bring a new approach to Los Angeles. One that demands we help attract businesses that create jobs and lower taxes. One that provides better efficiency and expedited better services. One that makes it a priority commitment to improving our schools. One that is committed to improve public transportation.

Draiman has a plan to make Los Angeles economic vitality flourish.
Make Los Angeles Competitive again, raise the standard of living, grow the tax base and help put an end to the yearly budget problems in Los Angeles.
